April Checklist:
  • Read The Secret Garden by Francis Hodgson Burnett.
  • Complete The Secret Garden Study Guide (except for the optional projects and pre-reading activities).
  • Write your second semester (required) blog post; due on May 16th. 
  • Bridge to Terabithia movie day on Saturday, April 20 at 2pm! 

March Checklist:
  • Read The Bronze Bow by Elizabeth George Speare.
  • Complete The Bronze Bow Study Guide (except for the optional projects and pre-reading activities).
  • Start working on your second semester (required) blog post.

  • Read Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson.
  • Complete the Bridge to Terabithia Study Guide (except for the optional projects and pre-reading activities).
  • Consider working on your second semester (required) blog post.
  • Little Women movie night on Saturday, March 2 at 7pm!

January Checklist:
  • Read Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.
  • Complete the Little Women Study Guide (except for the optional projects).
  • Consider working on your second semester (required) blog post.

December Checklist:
  • Write one or two works to read aloud at the Pickwick Tea on January 3.
  • Work on your first semester blog post, and turn it in (preferably through email) to the group leader no later than January 3. 
  • Begin reading Little Women. Consider reading up to chapter 10 before the Pickwick Tea.

November Checklist:
  • Read Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery.
  • Complete the Anne of Green Gables Study Guide (except for the optional projects and pre-reading activities).
  • Consider working on your first semester (required) blog post.
  • If desired, complete a writing assignment for the group blog.
  • Start thinking about and working on a short story, poem, news article, etc, to read out loud at the Pickwick Tea in January.

 October Checklist:
  • Read Number the Stars by Lois Lowry.
  • Complete the Number the Stars Study Guide (except for the optional projects and pre-reading activities).
  • Consider working on your first semester (required) blog post.
  • If desired, complete a writing assignment for the group blog.

September Checklist:
  • Decide on a pseudonym (pen name)* and email it and a short bio** to the group leader by Thursday, September 13.
  • Read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis.
  • Complete The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe Study Guide (except for the optional projects and pre-reading activities).
  • Start thinking about what book and topic you will write about for your first semester (required) blog post.
  • If desired, complete a writing assignment for the group blog.

* Your pen name can include a first, middle, and last name ("Sally Jo Smith"), just a first and last name ("Sally Smith"), just a first name ("Sally"), or just a last name ("Miss Smith"). Be creative! You can take a name from literature or you can come up with one from scratch. Just have fun with it.

** Your bio should not include any personal information, such as hometown, birthday, age, family information, etc. When writing your bio, focus on answering the following questions: 1) What are your hobbies? 2) What is your favorite subject in school? 3) What is your favorite book and/or movie? Including any other random and general facts about yourself (such as favorite animal, color, etc. or "I can ride a unicycle")  is allowed.
